Heat Shock
Proteins in Disease of the Nervous System
The modulation of neurodegeneration by heat shock proteins
is considered a promising approach for the treatment of
Alzheimer's Disease, Huntington's Disease and related
disorders, characterized by aberrant protein aggregation and
deposition (Muchowski and Wacker, Nature Reviews
Neuroscience, Vol 6, pp.11, 2005).
N-Gene's preclinical pipeline of heat-shock-protein inducers
contains drug candidates which offer potential in these
neurological indications. NG-094 has been demonstrated to be
active in animal models of neurological disorders, and is
being further characterized in cooperation with leading
academic partners.
