Gabor K. Kalman,
CEO
Mr. Kalman serves as CEO of N-Gene Inc. since 1997. He is
also Deputy Chairman of the Board. Further, he has been
managing Director of N-Gene Research Kft, N-Gene Inc.'s
wholly owned subsidiary in Hungary. He has held numerous
executive positions in entrepreneurial and large
organizations in the medical equipment, biotechnology,
consumer products and printing industry. Among them, Mr.
Kalman has been a founder and Chairman of Biorex Research
and Development Ltd., East Europe's first venture capital
financed high tech research company. Mr. Kalman started his
professional carrier as junior officer in the Hungarian
Foreign Trade Bank in 1977. He holds a B.Sc. from the
Academy for Foreign Trade in Budapest.
G. Alexander Fleming, M.D, CMO
Dr. Fleming is Chief Medical Officer of N-Gene since 2007.
His other tenures include President and Chief Executive
Officer, Kinexum LLC, a health product development company.
Previously, he served as Chief Medical Officer, Boston
Medical Technologies and Chief Scientific Officer, Ingenix
Pharmaceutical Services, a United Health Group Company.
Prior to that, Dr. Fleming served as reviewer and
supervisory medical officer for 12 years at the FDA. He
brings extensive clinical experience and regulatory
responsibility in the therapeutic areas of diabetes, other
metabolic and endocrine disorders, growth and development,
nutrition, lipid-lowering compounds, and reproductive
indications. He helped to shape a number of FDA policies and
practices related to therapeutic review and regulatory
communication. Dr. Fleming received his medical training and
laboratory research experience at Emory, Vanderbilt, and
National Institutes of Health.
Peter Literati Nagy, Ph.D., CSO
Dr. Literati serves as Chief Scientific Officer since 1997
(?) He is also on the Board of Directors, with
responsibility for science. Since 1997, he has been
intimately involved in advancing N-Gene's lead product
BGP-15. Prior to this, he has been scientific director at
various entrepreneurial organizations in Hungary, among them
Biorex Ltd., Budapest, East Europe's first venture capital
financed high tech research company. Dr. Literati spent the
first years of his professional carrier as a research
chemist at Chinoin Pharmaceuticals where he worked on
hydoximic acids such as BGP-15, and at Egis Phramaceuticals,
both of which are in Hungary. He holds a Ph.D.in chemistry
from Semmelweiss University, Budapest.
Sandor Bernath, PhD, MBA, COO
Dr. Bernath is responsible for science administration and
management of the Hungarian affiliation. His other tenures
include managing director, FontaMed Consulting Ltd.,
providing expert reviews for marketing authorization
renewals to the generic pharmaceutical industry and project
management to start-up drug development companies. Dr.
Bernath is Honorary Reader at Debrecen Medical University,
Hungary. Before joining N-Gene, Dr. Bernath was Associate
Director of Science at Biorex Research and Development Ltd.,
Eastern Europe’s first venture capital financed high tech
research company, and Research Assistant Professor of
Behavioral Neuroscience at University of Pittsburgh, PA,
USA. Dr. Bernath graduated in Biology and Chemistry at
Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary, where he also
received his University Doctorate in Anatomy and Cell
Biology. He earned his PhD degree in Biological Sciences
from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary.
Dr. Bernath holds an MBA degree from Brunel University,
Uxbridge, London, UK.
Mark Febbraio, PhD,
co-CSO
Dr. Febbraio is a Principal Research Fellow of the NHMRC, an
is also the head of the Cellular and Molecular Metabolism
Laboratory and Director of Basic Science in the Division of
Metabolism and Obesity at the Baker IDI Heart & Diabetes
Research Institute. His laboratory is focused on
understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms associated
with lipid-induced inflammation and insulin resistance. He
has discovered that muscles produce and secrete cytokines
that have biological reactivity, which has led to the very
important discovery that IL-6 and other IL-6 family
cytokines can be used as anti-obesity agents. He has
published his discoveries in Nature Medicine, Journal of
Clinical Investigation, Cell Metabolism, Proc Natl Acad Sci
USA, Diabetes, Journal of Biological Chemistry, FASEB
Journal, and in other prestigious scientific journals. His
work is consistently cited and has an H-index of 39 (39
papers with greater than 39 citations). Professor Febbraio
is regularly invited to overseas scientific symposia
including Keystone Symposia and The American Diabetes
Association Annual Scientific Meeting. Dr. Febbraio earned
his bachelor's degree from Victoria University of
Technology, Victoria, Australia, where he also received his
PhD.
Ms Eileen Red, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Red has been employed in public accounting for over 30
years providing audit and advisory services. She has
organized and managed a not-for-profit consulting practice,
improved the internal control structure for clients as well
and has performed and managed audits of companies in a
variety of industries such as real estate, transportation,
retail and education and the arts. |
